In this era of our life, our bodies can be faced by hormonal challenges that we may never have experienced before or recognise as such. As we get into our forties, there is a dramatic decline in our fertility and along with this come changes in our periods, as well as symptoms of estrogen deficiency. For many of us, this may translate into 100 different symptoms that we may not attribute to our hormonal balance. The average age of menopause in the UK, that is complete cessation of periods for one year, is 51. Periods stopping between 40-45 is considered early menopause. After the age of 45, periods can stop at any time and it is considered normal. With these milestones in mind, it is therefore very important to be able to have a discussion with a specialist who can help diagnose and manage these issues.
