Botox® is not administered as a one off. To maintain your anti-wrinkling results and prevent the appearance of more wrinkles,
repeat treatments are recommended every four months.
Your longer-term treatment plan also depends on how many units you receive – the smaller the unit, the quicker results will fade.

Dr Meyer has over 25 years’ of experience in restoring a natural look with gentle application, and, additionally, Botox® injections do not require any anaesthetic. That said you could expect a mild transitory discomfort during the procedure, which most patients find more than tolerable.
To avoid these stinging sensations, a topical numbing cream is available, which is given 20-30 minutes before the Botox®
treatment, although it is rare for patients to request this.

The procedure itself takes between 15–30 minutes, with the application of topical cream requiring a further 20–30 minutes if
needed.

You will receive an aftercare leaflet with directions advising you on post-treatment conduct, but generally recovery time rarely
lasts more than 24 hours.
Receiving Botox® treatments won’t affect your daily routine too much, and you can wear makeup as long as it is lightly
tapped and not massaged. There are also no restrictions against air travel, so this should not affect the results of your
treatment.
Dr Meyer does, however, advise against activities such as facial massages, extreme temperatures, vigorous exercise and
lying flat for up to four hours after treatment, which will be further addressed in the leaflet.

It’s rare that Botox® causes side effects, and although uncommon, Botulinum Toxin A can potentially cause minimal and
temporary discomfort.
Side effects of Botox® may include muscle weakness away from the injection site leading to a lid droop, but the weakness is
transitory and will wear off as the toxin is absorbed into the body.
