Ageing tends to make the eyebrow line shift downwards. With Botox® injections we can relax the targetted muscles and lift the brow. This opens up the eye and gives a more youthful appearance. HIFU is also a very effective technique for long-term improvement of muscles that weaken and cause the brow to drop. After your consultation with Dr. Meyer, you will be advised about the suitability as well as the improvement that can be realistically achieved. The aim is to lift the brow and open up the eye.
With Botox® only one treatment is needed to see the benefit. This is kicks in at 5 days but the full harmony and end result is reviewed at 3-4 weeks post-treatment. Any tweaking that may be required is done at this point. You will be advised if HIFU will be helpful or not as an add-on treatment.
Botox® injections do not require any anaesthetic ( numbing cream can be applied if especially sensitive). An extremely fine needle is used to inject tiny quantities to targeted muscles.
HIFU is an almost painless treatment. You may rarely feel a mild prickly sensation over some areas.
The Botox® treatment itself takes about 20-30 min if no anaesthetic is used. An extra 30 minutes will be needed if numbing cream is to be applied.
HIFU for brow and eye area takes about 45 min to an hour.
With Botox® injections, you can continue with the rest of the day but avoid overheating of the body or facial circulation. This can be brought on by vigorous exercise or alcohol. You should avoid lying flat for up to 4 hours for example.
There are no restrictions against air travel. Mineral makeup can be worn as long as it is tapped on. You will get an aftercare leaflet that will caution against activities as facial massages, extremes of temperature, vigorous exercise etc.
With HIFU the key thing is to water SPF 50 sunscreen and avoid sunbathing for four weeks.
