Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers offer a gentle and safe anti-ageing treatment for long-lasting skin renewal. As well as reducing wrinkles and filling in facial lines, they are also effective in restoring loss of volume around the eyes and enhancing lips and cheekbones. The effect lasts six to nine months. It can be used in conjunction with other aesthetic treatments.

Two of the safest and most effective products, which are supported by significant clinical studies, are hyaluronic acid dermal fillers such as Restylane® and Juvederm Ultra. They consist of a soft, colourless injectable gel based on stabilised hyaluronic acid – a naturally occurring substance in the skin that helps to add volume and hydration. As the levels of hyaluronic acid diminish with age, moisture is lost in our skin. By boosting the skin’s supply of hyaluronic acid, these dermal fillers revitalise the skin, instantly diminishing the appearance of lines and wrinkles.

As each product has different benefits and effects, your doctor will decide which one is right for you based upon your individual requirements. The beauty of dermal fillers is that you can be given as much or as little as you need to achieve a natural, fresh and more youthful appearance. The treatment is available at our clinics in Surrey, call today to book your consultation on 01932 706402.

FAQs

You will notice a difference straightaway. The aim is to keep the improvement subtle and natural looking. Lines that have been fixed show mild improvement, but will never be fully eradicated with just one treatment and may need other treatments as add-ons. Volumisation and contouring, on the other hand, produces a more visible improvement. The result continues to improve over the next few weeks as the NASHA (Non-Animal Stabilised Hyaluronic Acid) gel continues to absorb and hold water. Sometimes we may need to repeat treatment at another sitting. I believe a gradual build-up produces a more natural result without the unnecessary drama associated with fillers.

You will probably want a top-up treatment after six to 18 months depending on the area treated.

Some clients require anaesthetic numbing cream or a tiny drop of a numbing injection prior to the treatment. This depends on your sensitivity and area to be treated. The soft restoration technique employing a cannula is used to minimise trauma and improve comfort.

Dermal fillers take 30-45 minutes depending on the area being treated. Also, your clinician will use topical or injectable anaesthetic to make the procedure a more comfortable experience.

There is no downtime as such and you can return to your normal daily routine straight after the treatment. Mineral makeup can be used to cover any bruising. With lips however, as swelling can be dramatic in first 48 hours, it’s best to avoid social engagements.

Sometimes you may have some redness, swelling or bruising following dermal fillers. However, this usually subsides within a couple of days, and can be covered with make-up. In very rare circumstances delayed hypersensitivity reactions or occlusion of blood vessels have been reported in literature.
