Is hyperhydrosis (excessive sweating) in your underarm area having a negative impact on your life? We all sweat, however for some people it can be excessive and uncomfortable, whilst it’s not unhealthy it can become embarrassing and distressing. It can affect a number of areas of the body the most common being the underarms, palms, soles, and forehead.
Botox® is an FDA-approved treatment or people with hyperhydrosis (excessive sweating) can be used to reduce excessive sweating of the palms of the hands and soles of the feet by 80-90 %. The benefit lasts for approximately six months.
When you receive Botox injections directly into the area of your body that commonly sweats, your overactive nerves are essentially paralyzed. When your nerves can’t signal your sweat glands, you don’t sweat. However, Botox only prevents sweating in the specific area where it’s injected.
